Totbooking
This is a reletively new concept: Totbooking
Totbooks are very similar to lapbooks but they focus on play/learning value and a smaller size.
I am really excited about it. One of my children is three years old right now and I got so excited about it I started to create our own Ten Apples Up On Top reproducible tot-book. It is not done yet so I need to get into my files and finish those.
Here is some more information on them. The totbook concept is so new, there is not much info on them out there! The majority of totbooks are geared toward boys. Hopefully, people will start creating these to share and there will be more that appeal to girls.

4-H great opportunities for learning
Did you know that 4H is a great way to experience God's world, grow and learn? This is not just for farm kids! There is a lot to 4H that you may not be aware of.
My sister and I were in various 4H clubs as kids and we had very good experiences. I just participated in the horses part, but my sister did cooking and horses and stuff. A lot of my character development came from the challenges I had in 4H!
From the website:
4-H helps young people learn and grow through a process that builds competence, confidence, connection, compassion, and character. By participating in 4-H, young people prepare themselves for economic and social success as adults while making positive contributions to their communities.
4-H programming is based on the theory and practice of positive youth development. In short, it based on a belief that positive outcomes for young people don’t happen by chance. Instead, it is up to parents, schools, youth organizations, and the entire community to help them learn and grow.
Positive youth development occurs best in settings that provide opportunities for mastery, independence, generosity, and belonging. That's why 4-H goes to great lengths to ensure that all 4-H experiences include these essential elements.

Teaching using a BOOK AS A SPINE
Maybe you have heard of teaching using a book as a spine?
I am surprised at how easy this is and love it. Teaching this way can open up your homeschool to develop a real love of learning and save you plenty of money at the same time.
Unfortunately, there is not really any information on "how" to use a book as a spine. I did find this link here below. Hopefully it will shed some light. It is a little like mind mapping (an abstract way of doing an outline) and inspires creativity... even if you are not the creative type.
